ELIZABETH GASTON
As a ketogenic warrior for almost two years, I am confident that there are millions of people who can experience the benefits of complimenting expert healthcare with expert eating habits and lifestyle.
When I was diagnosed with epilepsy at age nine, I do not remember any doctor informing me to consider a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet for the management of my seizures. Brain surgery was recommended to me as a treatment plan when I was a young adult, but at the age of twenty four I decided to test the Ketogenic Diet (KD), a treatment plan originally prescribed to epileptic children in the 1900's.
Changing the way I eat has allowed me to become less dependent on drugs and more dependent on my daily acts of living. I believe every person can choose to take control of their health if provided insight on what the process looks like from the prospective of someone who has taken this route herself. Although everyone's journey will look different, I know I would have appreciated more insight, which is why I chose to share my story.

Fried cucumbers and okra have also become my go-to fiber choices as they are both very low in carbohydrates.
